Travel Program
October 1, 2018 - March 15, 2019

The travel program is the most competitive level of hockey offered by the BAHL.  Evaluations are required to be invited to participate.  These teams play a season of games requiring statewide travel on weekends concluding with a competitive state tournament.  Teams also typically participate in regional tournaments to face competition from Western Canada, the Dakotas, and Wyoming among others. Evaluations occur in early-mid September with the season concluding in March.  All players participating in tryouts must have completed their BAHL registration and paid the required fee(s) or set up on payment plan.  Costs associated with traveling will be the parent’s responsibility, including hotels, coaches fees for non-parent coaches, and tournament entry fees.

Travel Programs are offered at the U10, U12, U14, and High School levels with all levels receiving 3 practice per week.

***NEW*** Recreational Program
October 1, 2018 - March 15, 2019

New for 2018-19 the recreational program is a level offered to promote hockey development locally in Billings. Players will have to opportunity to hit the ice as frequently as the travel programs without the additional financial and time investment of weekend long, statewide travel.  The program is designed to offer ample practice time with weekly games in Billings against local competition with occasional day trips to neighboring cities (Bozeman, Helena, Miles City, etc) for inter-program competition. Evaluations are included, though optional to participate in this level.  Teams will be coached by ex-Travel Program coaches who can no longer travel on weekends. Quality of practices, competition, and coaching will provide players the opportunity to improve their game with more puck touches and less time behind the windshield. The season runs from October to March.

Travel is an option for tournaments during the season. No travel-specific teams will be set and rosters will be determined on a first come, first served basis. Tournament options will be given to parents at the beginning of the season. Costs associated with traveling will be the parent’s responsibility, including hotels, coaches fees for non-parent coaches, and tournament entry fees.

Recreational Program is offered at the U10 and U12 levels receiving 2 practices and 1 hour of game time per week.

U8 “Mite” Program
October 1, 2018 - March 15, 2019

Mites is a local program designed for the development of the youngest group of hockey players.  Several teams practice together with a focus on individual skills and fundamental development.  In fact, Billings mites get the most ice time of any U8 group in Montana!  ***NEW*** Experienced players in the mite program may be recommended by the coaches committee for advanced placement in the recreational program to provide a more appropriate environment for skill development of the player and their peers.

Travel is an option for up to a maximum of 3 out of town tournaments during the season. No travel-specific teams will be set. Tournament options will be given to parents at the beginning of the season. Costs associated with traveling will be the parent’s responsibility, including the tournament entry fee. Payment of tournament entry fee to the Age Group Director or Team Manager must be made promptly. All kids in this group will be given equal and fair opportunity to participate in the all tournaments.

Mite/U8 Program receives 2 of practice and 1 hour of hour game time per week.
